COVID-19: Uganda Registers 98 New Cases, Total Shoots up to 1,848

The ministry of health Uganda has confirmed ninety eight (98) new COVID19 cases from 4,131 samples tested on 20th August, 2020.

Of the 98 confirmed cases, 69 are alerts, 21 are contacts to previously confirmed cases, while the other five (5) are truck drivers who arrived from Kenya and three (3) are returnees from Kenya, DRC and South Sudan.

Regarding the alerts and contacts cases, 75 are from Kampala, six (6) are from Luweero, three (3) from Jinja, while the other four (4) are from Adjumani, Ntoroko, Kasese and Buikwe.

According to the ministry, a total of eleven (11) foreign truck drivers including 7 Kenyans, 2 Rwandese and 2 Congolese who tested positive for COVID19 were not allowed in to the country.

To date, Uganda registers a total of 1,848 confirmed COVID19 cases , 1,199 recoveries and nineteen (19) deaths.
