COVID-19: Uganda Registers One New Death as 81 Test Positive

Uganda has recorded one COVID-19 death today. The deceased is a Ugandan male aged 65 years old and a resident of Mbale.

This brings the total of COVID-19 deaths in Uganda to 30.

In the same vein, the ministry of health has registered 81 new COVID-19 cases from the 3,890 samples tested on 29 August 2020

Of the confirmed cases, 67 are contacts and alerts including 32 from Kampala, 9 from Kiryandongo, 7 from Kitgum , 4 from Wakiso , 4 from Mukono, 3 from Iganga, 2 from Jinja, 2 from Gulu, 1 from Mbale, 1 from Oyam,1from Bundibugyo , and 1 from Namisindwa.

The other cases include two (2) truck drivers from Malaba and 12 health workers 4 of whom are from  Lira, 3 from Kampala, 3 from Moroto, 1from Jinja and 1 from Tororo.

The ministry adds that 11 foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID-19 at the border were not permitted entry into the country.

Uganda now registers a cumulative total of 2,928 confirmed cases and 1,288  recoveries.
