ICT Minister Nabakooba Credits Simi Mobile Company For Job Creation

The Minister of ICT and National Guidance Judith Nabakooba has appreciated Simi Mobile Company for creating employment for the youth in Uganda.

During a guided tour of the company’s assembling plant, in the company of state minister of ICT Peter Ogwang, Nabakooba also thanked President Yoweri Museveni for having a vision to create jobs for Ugandans.

Simi mobile company which currently employs 300 Ugandans was launched by the President Yoweri Museveni in 2019.

Nabakooba also thanked Simi Mobile Company for their investment and urged them to low the cost of smart phones to allow ordinary people buy their phones.

“This will increase use of ICT gadgets for research and business among the population” she said.

The company’s plant came into existence after the government signed an agreement with Chinese owned SIMI technologies in July last year to promote the manufacturing of ICT electronics in Uganda.

It produces about 2500 mobile phones a day and it started importing its products in Morocco and soon will send phones to Hungary,Europe.
