The police in Kyankwanzi are investigating death by drowning of three brothers.
Sseruta Joseph, 27, Kigongo Farouk, 19, and Waswa Ali, 21, are said to have drowned on 12th May 2021 at 6pm at Kololo village, Kyenda Parish, Butemba Sub County in Kyankwanzi district.
Preliminary findings show that Kigongo and Waswa went to fetch water in a dam in the farm of one Tumusiime Judith.
After drawing water, the deceased decided to first wash their feet before going home as these are brothers.
However, the two slid at the banks of the dam and fell in the water, drowning suddenly.
Their parents reportedly waited for the two brothers to return home but in vain.
They mounted a search bur later realized that the two had drowned.
They informed friends and relatives for assistance who then gathered at the dam.
Amongst those that gathered was one Sseruta Joseph who decided to jump into the water to save lives but unfortunately, he also ended up drowning.
Information was reported to police by the area chairperson of Kololo village a one Taban John.
Regional Police Spokesperson, Rachael Kawala says the scene was visited by a team of detectives and a team of fire brigade.
She say the three bodies have been retrieved and examined and handed over to the relatives for burial as inquiries Vide Kyz DEF 01/2021 continue.
