COVID-19: Uganda Registers One New Death as 176 Test positive

Uganda has registered one (1) COVID19 death today. The deceased is a 46 year old Ugandan male resident of Wakiso district.

This brings the total number of COVID19 deaths to thirty three (33).

Relatedly, the ministry of health Uganda has confirmed 176 new COVID-19 cases from 5,453 samples tested on 2nd September, 2020.

Of the confirmed cases, 172 are alerts and contacts including 70 from Manafwa, 39 from Kampala, 17 from Kikuube, 13 from Buikwe, 10 from Mbale, 9 from Moroto, 5 from Mukono, 2 from Hoima , 2 from Tororo, 1 from Buvuma, 1 from Kyenjojo, 1 from Mbarara, 1 from Namisindwa, and 1 from Wakiso.

The other cases include two (2) health workers from Jinja and Kampala and two (2) who arrived from Malaba and Busia points of entry.

The ministry further notes that four (4) foreign truck drivers including 2 Kenyans, 1 Congolese and 1 Rwandese who tested positive for COVID19 were not permitted entry in to the country.

To date, Uganda registers a cumulative total of 3,288 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,532 recoveries and thirty three (33) COVID19 deaths.
