Shock and grief today morning locked the family, relatives and friends of the former Inspector General of Police General Edward Kale Kayihura after receiving the sad news of passing away of his lovely mother Late Catherine Mukarwamo. She died in Fort portal at the age of 92. According to family members, the cause of death is yet to be revealed.
However, some family sources say the elderly mother has been having poor health ever since the lockdown started. “When the Government announced total lockdown around April, the health of our mother started worsening but we kept treating her until when God decided to call her from this world,” says one of the family relative.
Another source however told us that the late Mother’s life changed when her son Gen Kayihura was sacked from the position of Inspector General of police in March 2018. “When Gen Kayihura was sacked from the office of IGP, his mother collapsed and was rushed to hospital where she received some treatment and after some time she stabilized,” says another family source.
The source adds that her life worsened when she got news that his son was arrested by the same government he served for the entire of his life. “When Gen Kayihura was arrested, the elderly mother also collapsed and she was rushed to the hospital but the family kept it a secret. She even tried to seek appointment to meet the President but all in vain. So her health changed even up to now she was not okay,” revealed another family source.
Another family member said the burial arrangements are on going and they expect the burial to be on Saturday.
