Museveni Meets Senior Police Officers Over Corruption Practices



President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who at the same time the commander of armed forces has warned the senior police officers to a void involving themselves in corruption practices.

The police officers who were led by the Deputy IGP Gen Paul Loketch alongside other senior officers met with the president at the State House Entebbe.

“Met senior police officers led by Deputy IGP, Gen Paul Loketch, at State House Entebbe. I have strongly warned them against involvement in corrupt practices. Corruption in the Police Force should stop.” President Museveni tweeted.

The president further urged the police officers to heed to his earlier communication on proper methods of arresting suspects.

“The police should heed my earlier communication on proper methods of arresting suspects, handling citizens and foreign guests. Do not harass, beat, push or bark at wanainchi for whatever reason.” The president warned.

Last week on Tuesday the president held a closed-door meeting with his top army and police commanders at State House Entebbe to discuss the security situation in the country.

According to sources, the meeting also discussed the security situation in Karamoja Sub-region where cattle rustling has resumed, Somalia and Kampala, where soldiers were deployed last year during the presidential election campaigns.

In the meeting, Maj Gen Paul Lokech, who was recently given the directive by the President to arrest security operatives using vans commonly known as “drones” represented the police.
The Commander of Special Forces, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and the Military police boss, Col Keith Katungi, whose units are referred as independent also attended the meeting.

Others are the Mechanised Brigade commander, Brig Deus Sande based in Masaka, and Brig Charles Byanyima from the Motorized Infantry Brigade in Nakasongola.
