Col. Fred Mwesigye was first declared as the Nyabushozi county NRM party candidate on September 4th primaries by District Registrar, David Agom Andiinda.

Kajwengye opposed the results and petitioned the party leadership claiming massive fraud and irregularities.

Following the findings of the investigations, Museveni directed the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr.Tanga Odoi to conduct fresh polls.
