COVID-19: Uganda Registers 19 New Cases, Total Shoots Up to 1,332

The ministry of health Uganda has confirmed nineteen (19) new COVID19 cases from 3,199 samples tested on 11th August, 2020.

Of the 19 confirmed cases, 11 are alerts, five (5) are contacts to previously confirmed cases, while three (3) are truck drivers.

Regarding the 11 alert cases, four (4) are from Kampala metropolitan area, three (3) are from Namisindwa while the other four (4) are from Buikwe, Mbale, Kasese and Wakiso.

Among the five (5) contacts, four (4) are from Kampala Metropolitan area, and one (1) is from Wakiso while among the truck drivers, two (2) arrived from Kenya via Busia and Malaba and one arrived from South Sudan via Elegu points of entry.

According to the ministry, a total of twenty four (24) foreign truck drivers including 18 Kenyans, 3 Congolese, and 3 Tanzanians who tested positive for COVID19 were not allowed in to the country.

To date, Uganda registers a total of 1,332 confirmed COVID19 cases , 1,139 recoveries and nine (9) deaths.
