Court sitting in Kiruhura district has today charged and remanded Nyabushozi National Resistance Movement (NRM) registrar one Agom David Andiinda to Kiruhura prison until 28th October 2020.
Andiinda was charged with neglect of duty following his arrest on allegations of forging Nyabushozi County results in the recently concluded NRM primaries.
After his arrest, the NRM electoral commission chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi ordered for the postponement of fresh NRM primaries in Nyabusozi country.
Andiinda was arrested by a team of detectives from CID headquarters in Kampala on Sunday and was held at Kiruhura Central Police Station on charges of forgery.
A team of detectives from CID headquarters headed by Henry Mugumya arrested and detained the Mr Andiinda on charges of uttering false documents, forgery, and conspiracy to commit a felony VIDE CID headquarters GEF 946/2020 in the recently concluded NRM primaries.
On September 4, Andiinda declared Rtd Col Fred Mwesigye as the duly elected NRM flag bearer for Nyabushozi County with 36,147 votes, followed by Wilson Kajwengye with 13,248 votes, and Christopher Bakashaba with 5601 votes.
Kajwengye opposed the results and petitioned the party leadership claiming massive fraud and irregularities which forced the president to order for fresh elections in 84 villages where the said malpractices were manifested.
However, on October 5, Kajwengye announced that he had opted out of the race saying NRM electoral commission had organized elections in only 25 villages instead of 84 villages as directed.
